I personally think there are mixed feelings. Currently, many insurance carriers do not cover mental health. The ones who do will not cover preexisting conditions. This means that someone who does not have insurance under the current system (prior to obamacare) and get sick is likely not to be covered. On the other hand, insurance companies cannot really cover preexisting conditions because of their risk models. It would be almost like crashing your car and then trying to purchase insurance after the accident. The solution, according to Obamacare is the individual mandate which requires everyone to either buy health insurance or pay a fine. This way, there would be no issue with preexisting conditions. Everyone would be required to purchase insurance. This is seen by many people as government trying to interfere in our lives by making us purchase a product just as a part of being alive. Ultimately this issue is going to be decided by the sumpreme court and the law will stand or fall based on their decision. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like there is any perfect solution. To many people go without care and it is too expensive. I'm afraid no matter what happens, not much is going to change any time soon.
