Stimulant Effects of Adderall?

Adderall is classified as a stimulant but is often used to treat ADHD.  What is the reasoning behind this? It seems that a stimulant would be contradictory to the hyperactivity part of the disorder.

The problem with people with ADHD and ADD is that they are unable to concentrate and the stimulant component of Adderall is meant to target the parts of the brain responsible for concentration/ attention span and stimulate them. Unfortunately, it also stimulates other things such as the heart which increases the patients risk of heart disease or heart attack.

i think you need to look at the life of the person and weigh the negative outcomes as compared to the possible outcomes.when you become afraid of wha might be you have to look at the positives which i dont see when people discuss amphetamine therapy.fear never got much done .possitve reassurance does.
