Being a kid and going through that situation, would absolutely cause them to be more protective over themselves. Checking the doors every night and day to make sure they are locked, keeping knifes or pepperspray on them, and being a bit odd when they are around people. I assume they wouldn't like it whenever people touch them, bump into them, or give them a hug. Then when the time comes for their loved one to want to have sex, they would be scared.
