Do not mean choosing between daddy and daughter. They are so different and I have trouble making everyone happy. - Psychology Questions

Welcome to Psychology Questions, where you can ask questions and receive answers from other members of the community.

My daddy is on a walker. Physically deteriorating but mentally sharp. Daughter doesn't understand his ways and to him she should always speak first and defer to him. Tension can be cut with a knife. I stay on edge constantly. By the way, I am 64. Had daughter at 44.

Your daughter is 19? and still living with you? Maybe its time for her to get her own place...and learn to respect her elders. Thats the problem with kids now days they think that they are so cool and entitled to everything and that everything should just be handed to them and dont have to listen to anyone. your father has a lot more life experience than she does and probably has a lot of interesting stories to tell a girl her age about.  Its hard to tell you what to do because I dont really know the situation with your daughter...but it seems to me that she needs to learn how to be respectful.
