Social learning theory is based on the notion that we can learn through observation and modeling other people's behavior. It uses many of the principles of learning theory and behavior theory. It was found that even chimpanzees learn from other chimpanzees and imitate other chimapnzee's behavior. This actually increases the realm of our learning experiences and helps explain why we can learn so fast. It was also found that we do not imitate everything we see and that just because we don't displat what we learned does not mean we haven't learned it. Whether we display it or not seems to depend on outr perception that we will be reinforced for showing it. For example, children who observed violence did not become violent unless they were encouraged and reinforce to be violent, violence meaning punching a Bozo air doll.
