Hello

The dog of Pavlov became a masochist, like can be a human. All that because he associated the food ( pleasure) with the pain. So we have a dog that shows pleasure signs, when he feels the pain ! For him : pain = pleasure  ...

In the case you described on here ( precisely), the food is like a ' starter '. Then there is an automatic secretion of their salivary glands. I would say it's an unconditioned stimulus.
